The short answer

What should a plumber's website include?

A plumber's website needs a phone number people can tap from any page, the towns you cover, your main services with a call-out charge or starting prices, your Gas Safe registration if you do gas work, and recent reviews. It has to load quickly on a phone. Ours are built around exactly that, from £49 a month with no contract.

What a plumber's website needs

Four things I put on every plumbing website, because they're what gets you the call.

  1. A big tap-to-call number

In the header of every page, one tap from dialling. Someone with water coming through the ceiling won't hunt for it.

  2. Gas Safe and other registrations

Your Gas Safe number if you do gas work, plus any WaterSafe, OFTEC or APHC membership you actually hold.

  3. A quick quote request form

The job, the postcode and how urgent it is, straight to your inbox, with room for a photo of the problem.

  4. The areas you cover

Towns and districts listed by name, so customers and Google both know where you work.

What people check before they call a plumber

Most plumbing jobs start with a problem, not a browse. A leak under the sink, no hot water on a Sunday, a boiler showing a fault code. People search on their phone, open two or three sites from the map results and ring whoever looks trustworthy and available first.

In those few seconds they want to know three things: whether they can ring you right now, whether you cover their area, and whether you're properly qualified. A website that answers all three on the first screen will usually get the call ahead of a flashier one that doesn't.

Planned work is different. Someone pricing a new boiler or a bathroom refit will read more, compare a few firms and look closely at reviews and photos of past jobs. A good website for plumbers handles both: quick for the emergency, detailed enough for the considered job.

What to put on a plumbing website

The pages and details that do the work. You send me the facts, I write them up.

  • Your number, everywhere

In the header of every page and dialling in one tap, on every plan. Growth adds a WhatsApp button and a sticky call bar for customers who'd rather send a photo of the problem first.

  • Registrations you hold

Your Gas Safe number if you work on gas, plus any WaterSafe, OFTEC, APHC or manufacturer accreditations. Only the ones that are current.

  • The towns you work in

Named towns and districts rather than “and surrounding areas”. It saves you calls from 40 miles away.

  • A call-out charge or starting prices

You don't need a full price list. A call-out charge or a “boiler service from” price filters out time-wasters and builds trust.

  • When you're available

Say whether you take emergency calls, your usual hours and how quickly you can normally attend. Only promise what you can keep.

  • Reviews and real jobs

Your Google reviews and a few photos of finished work. A tidy boiler install says more than any stock photo of a smiling man holding a spanner.

A plumbing website you can try with your name

This is the live plumbing template, the same one your free preview starts from. Switch the style under the preview at the top of the page, or type your business name and watch it change.

Example template for a plumber. Hughes Plumbing & Heating is a made-up business: your preview uses your name. See the template for every trade.

What to notice

  1. Check the phone frame first: it's how most emergency callers will see you
  2. The emergency notice and call button sit above everything else
  3. A “do this first” box covers leaks, gas smells and no heating, the kind of help people remember

DIY, a local agency or a monthly plan

Three realistic ways to get a website for your plumbing business, and what each one asks of you.

From the van to live within 1 working day of your answers

  1. Step 1: Build your preview on your phone

Pick plumber and type your business name. About a minute, no card needed.

  2. Step 2: Pick a plan and answer a few quick questions

Your services, areas, registration numbers and any photos of jobs. A 15-minute call works if that's easier than typing.

  3. Step 3: I build and write it

I write the pages in plain English, set up hosting and your domain, and check it all on phones.

  4. Step 4: Live

It goes live within 1 working day of your answers, on your own domain, which is included in your plan.

  5. Step 5: You check it between jobs

Look it over when you get a minute and send changes by email or WhatsApp. No meetings.

Getting found on Google as a plumber

For searches like “emergency plumber near me”, Google usually shows a map with a few local businesses above the normal results. Who appears there depends mostly on your Google Business Profile: how relevant and complete it is, how close you are to the person searching, and your reviews. Your website backs it up by confirming your name, number, services and areas.

Growth includes setting up your Google Business Profile and local SEO for your town. Pro adds a page for each area you cover, written for that area rather than copied with the town name swapped. Nobody can honestly promise you the top spot, and I won't. These are the basics that give you a fair chance.

MonthlySite is new. I'm not.

What a plumbing website costs

Every plan includes design, hosting, security updates and changes by email. Growth is the one I'd suggest for most plumbers, because it includes the Google Business Profile setup and local SEO.

Questions plumbers ask

Message CharlieI reply within one working day
Can you show my Gas Safe registration number?

Yes. Send me your registration number and I'll show it near the top of the site and on your contact page, so customers can check it on the Gas Safe Register. If you hold OFTEC, WaterSafe, APHC or manufacturer accreditations, I'll add those too.

Can customers call me straight from the website?

Yes. Your number sits in the header of every page, and on a phone it dials in one tap, so someone with a leak can ring you straight away. That's on every plan. Growth and Pro add a WhatsApp button and a sticky call bar on phones, which suit customers who want to send you a photo of the problem first.

I'm out on jobs all day. How much of my time will this take?

About half an hour in total. Build the preview in a minute, then answer a few quick questions by email or WhatsApp, or in a 15-minute call with me. I write the pages, and it's live within 1 working day of your answers. You check it between jobs and tell me what to change.

Will a website get me more emergency call-outs?

It gives people who find you a quick way to ring and a reason to trust you. A lot of emergency searches go through the map results on Google, so the Growth plan's Google Business Profile setup matters just as much. I won't promise a number of calls, because nobody honestly can.

Do I need a website if word of mouth keeps me busy?

Maybe not a big one. But people who hear your name usually look you up before they ring, and a simple site with your number, areas and Gas Safe details confirms you're the real thing. Starter covers that for £49 a month.

I already have a website. Can you take it over?

Yes. I'll rebuild it on one of the plans and move your domain across, so customers still find you at the same address. Any text and photos that are still useful come with you, and there's no setup fee for a rebuild.
