The short answer

What's in a monthly website package?

A monthly website package is a done-for-you website paid for with a flat monthly fee instead of a big upfront bill. The fee usually covers design, hosting, security and changes. Ours are Starter at £49, Growth at £79 and Pro at £99 a month, with no contract and no setup fee. Most local businesses that want calls from Google pick Growth.

What every monthly package includes

Every package, from £49 a month with no contract, covers the same foundations: a website designed around your trade, hosting, the SSL certificate that shows the padlock, security updates, a contact form that goes to your inbox and a layout that works properly on phones. A standard domain is included too. It goes live within 1 working day of your answers.

What changes between packages is the number of pages, how much help you get with Google, and how quickly edits come back. You can move up or down a package in any month, and the website comes with you.

Your domain is registered in your name, and your text and photos are always yours. The design and hosting are part of the package while you're subscribed. If you cancel and want to keep the site as it is, you can buy it outright.

The three packages side by side

All three are month to month. Paying yearly gets you 12 months for the price of 10.

Which package suits your business

A quick way to choose, based on the kinds of businesses I build for.

  • Starter, £49 a month

For sole traders who mostly get work through word of mouth and need somewhere proper to send people. Three pages covers home, services and contact, which is plenty for a mobile dog groomer or a busy bookkeeper.

  • Growth, £79 a month

For local businesses that want new calls from Google. The Google Business Profile setup and local SEO are aimed at the map results, which is where a lot of people choose a plumber, a salon or a café.

  • Pro, £99 a month

For businesses covering several towns or offering several distinct services. Each area gets its own useful page, and the quote or booking form collects the details you need before you ring back.

  • Still not sure

Start with the one that fits today. Moving up or down a package takes one email, your website stays as it is, and you're never tied in.

How a monthly package works, month to month

No meetings, no deposit, and nothing to install.

  1. Step 1: Build a free preview

Pick your trade and type your business name. You'll see a working website with your name on it in about a minute, with no card needed.

  2. Step 2: Choose a package

Your first monthly payment starts the build. There's no setup fee on top.

  3. Step 3: Answer a few quick questions

Your logo if you have one, your services, the areas you cover and any photos. No photos yet is fine.

  4. Step 4: Go live

It's live within 1 working day of your answers, on your own domain with SSL.

  5. Step 5: Send changes when you need them

Email or WhatsApp me what needs updating. Starter includes 1 change a month, and Growth and Pro include unlimited small edits.

Signs it's time to change package

Most people start on the package that fits today. These are the usual reasons to move up, and each change is one email.

  • You've run out of pages

A new service, a price list or a page for a second town won't fit on Starter's 3 pages. Growth gives you up to 6, and Pro up to 10.

  • You want calls from the map results

If most of your work comes from recommendations, Starter is fine. If you want new customers from Google Maps, Growth sets up your Google Business Profile and local SEO.

  • Your details change most months

Starter includes 1 change a month. If your prices, photos or hours change more often than that, Growth's unlimited small edits keep up with you.

  • You work across several towns

Pro adds a page for each area you cover, each one written for that area rather than copied with the name swapped.

  • You want the details before you ring back

Pro's quote or booking request form asks for the job, the postcode and the timing, so you can reply with a price.

  • You want to see how it's doing

Pro includes a short performance report each month. If a quieter season means you need less, moving down a package works the same way.

Comparing us with other monthly providers? The checklist on our pay monthly websites page covers what to ask anyone before you sign.

What a package looks like for an electrician

This is a live template, the same starting point your free preview uses. “Try this with my details” puts your own name on it.

Example template for an electrician. Brightwire Electrical is a made-up business: your preview uses your name. See the template for every trade.

What to notice

  1. The phone number sits at the top, where phone visitors look first
  2. Services and areas covered are listed plainly, so customers and Google both know what you do and where
  3. Trust details such as qualifications and reviews come before anyone has to scroll

A monthly package or a one-off build

A monthly package suits you if you'd rather not find a lump sum, your prices or services change through the year, or you simply don't want to think about hosting and updates. Everything is in one payment, and you can stop when it stops being useful.

A one-off build suits you if you have the budget now, your details rarely change and you're happy to arrange hosting yourself. One-off websites start from £549. Over a few years the one-off route can cost less, as long as you don't need much help once it's live.

From Charlie

I'd rather you started on the smallest package that does the job and moved up when you needed to, than paid for things you don't use. Switching is one email, either way.

Questions people ask

Message CharlieI reply within one working day
How much should a monthly website package cost?

In the UK, monthly website packages typically cost from about £30 to £150 a month, depending on the number of pages, the features and how much help is included. Ours are £49, £79 and £99 a month with no contract. Check for setup fees and minimum terms too, because they change the real cost a lot.

Can I switch between monthly packages?

Yes. You can move up or down a package in any month by emailing me. Your website carries on as it is, and gains or loses the pages and features that come with the new package.

Is there a minimum term?

No. Every package is month to month, with no contract and no exit fee. Cancel any time and you won't be charged again. Your plan stops at the end of the month you cancel in, and your domain stays in your name.

What happens to my website if I cancel?

Your plan stops at the end of the month you cancel in. You keep your domain name, your text and your photos. The design and hosting are part of the package, but you can buy the site outright if you'd like to keep it.

Are changes really unlimited on Growth and Pro?

Small edits are unlimited, within fair use: new prices, photos, opening hours, a new service or a staff change. Larger pieces of work, such as a full redesign or more pages than your package allows, are agreed with you before anything is done.

Do monthly website packages include an online shop?

Ours don't. They're built for service businesses that want calls, enquiries and bookings rather than online checkouts. If you need to sell products online, a dedicated shop platform is usually the better fit, and I'll tell you so.

Is the domain name included?

Yes. One standard .co.uk, .uk or .com is included while you stay on a plan, registered in your name. Already have one? I'll point it at your new site. If you cancel, you keep it and the renewal becomes yours.
