Hi, I'm Charlie. I'm the person who builds your website.

I've built 80+ websites for small businesses through Transform Sites. MonthlySite is how I build yours: properly, for a fair monthly price, with me on the other end of every email.

Websites from £49 a month. No contract, no upfront fee.

A letter from Charlie

Why I started MonthlySite

I'm a web developer, and for years I've built websites for small businesses through Transform Sites. 80 of them at the last count, for more than 100 clients.

The same thing kept happening. A good local business would be quoted £2,000 up front, then charged again every time a price changed. Or they'd start a DIY site one Sunday evening and never quite finish it. Either way, the website went out of date and the phone didn't ring.

So I started MonthlySite. You see your website before you pay a penny. If you like it, plans start at £49 a month, and that covers the build, the hosting, the security updates and your changes. Monthly suits us both. There's no big bill for you to find, and I only keep you as a client if the website keeps doing its job.

MonthlySite is small on purpose. There's no sales team and no account manager passing messages along. When you email, it comes to me, and I'm the one who builds, fixes and updates your site. I'll know your business, because I'll have written the words on your homepage.

I'd rather keep you because the website works, not because a contract says so.

Keeping it affordable doesn't mean cutting corners. Over the years I've built a proper starting point for each trade, and I use good modern tools for the repetitive jobs: backups, security updates and the instant preview you can try on this site. That leaves my time for the parts that matter, like your words, your photos and making sure people can find your number.

If something isn't right, tell me and I'll fix it. If you don't need something, I'll say so. And if you ever want to leave, you can. You keep your domain, your text and your photos.

How I work

Five things you can hold me to

They're how MonthlySite works, whichever plan you're on.

  1. You'll always deal with me

No call centre and no account manager. The person who answers your email is the person who builds your website.

  2. Plain English, no jargon

You don't need to know what DNS is. If something technical needs doing, I'll do it, and tell you what changed in a sentence.

  3. No contract, because I'd rather earn it

Plans are month to month. Cancel any time and you won't be charged again.

  4. Changes done quickly

Email or WhatsApp me what you need. Starter includes 1 change a month, and Growth and Pro include unlimited small edits. Pro edits are done within 48 hours.

  5. Honest advice, even if it's "you don't need that"

If Starter covers what you need, I'll tell you. I'd rather you upgraded later because you wanted to.

What I won't do

The things that give web designers a bad name. None of them happen here.

I won'tInstead, I'll

I won't Lock you into a contract

Month to month. Cancel any time, with no exit fee.

I won't Charge you to get started

£0 upfront. Your first monthly payment starts your build.

I won't Sell you things you don't need

Tell you straight which plan fits, even if it's the cheapest one.

I won't Publish fake reviews

Only genuine reviews from real clients. While there aren't any yet, I say so.

I won't Hide fees in the small print

Show every cost up front. The only extra is your domain name, typically £10 to £20 a year.

I won't Keep your domain hostage

Your domain is registered in your name, and one standard .co.uk, .uk or .com domain is included in every plan for as long as you stay on it. If you cancel, you keep it and the yearly renewal becomes yours. If you leave, it goes with you.

A normal day at the desk

One person, looking after every website properly. Here's roughly how the day goes.

  1. First job

Change requests from clients. They get done before anything new is started, so your new prices or opening hours don't sit in a queue.

  2. Then

Building. One new website at a time, from the preview you picked to finished pages, words and a contact form that works.

  3. Later on

Checking. Every page on a phone, a tablet and a laptop, and every contact form sent to myself to make sure it arrives.

  4. Before I log off

Replies. I reply within one working day, usually sooner.

  5. In the background

Backups, security updates and SSL renewals run on their own, and I keep an eye on them.

What a change request looks like

For example: a client asks for their Christmas opening hours to be added in the morning, and they're live by late morning.

What if you're ill or on holiday?

Your website keeps running. Hosting, backups and security updates don't need me at the desk. If I'm going to be away for more than a couple of days, I'll tell you in advance.

I'll show client websites here as soon as they're happy for me to. Until then, here are three of the templates I start from, filled in with example businesses.
