For many trades, a single new job from the website covers several months of the fee. The pricing page compares every feature plan by plan.

What the monthly price includes

One payment covers the website and the looking after. You won't get a separate bill for any of these.

  • A design built for your trade

Laid out around what your customers look for, with your name, logo and colours.

  • Hosting and SSL

Your site is hosted for you, with the SSL certificate that shows the padlock, renewed automatically.

  • Your domain

One standard .co.uk, .uk or .com, registered in your name, included for as long as you stay on a plan.

  • Security updates and backups

Kept up to date and backed up, so a problem is a quick fix rather than a rebuild.

  • Changes by email or WhatsApp

1 change a month on Starter, and unlimited small edits on Growth and Pro.

  • A contact form

Enquiries go straight to your inbox. Pro adds a quote or booking request form.

  • A real person

You deal with Charlie by email, from the first draft to the changes you send years later.

Rather own it outright? One-off builds from £549.

One-off website pricing

If you'd rather pay once and own the website, one-off builds start from £549. The final price depends on how many pages you need and what the site has to do, and you'll get a written quote before any work starts. After launch you can host it wherever you like, or pay for hosting and care separately.

The one-off route costs more on day one and can cost less later, as long as you're happy looking after it or paying for help when you need it. A monthly plan costs nothing up front and keeps hosting, updates and changes in one predictable payment. Neither is the right answer for everyone.

Either way, you'll see your website before you pay anything. The free preview shows your business name on a real template for your trade, so you're judging the work, not a sales pitch.

What affects website design prices

Whoever you ask for a quote, these are the things that move the number.

  • The number of pages

Each page needs writing, laying out and checking. A 3-page site and a 15-page site are different jobs.

  • Who writes the words

Copywriting takes time. Supplying your own text brings the price down, if you have the time to write it well.

  • Starting point

Designing from a blank page takes days of extra work. Starting from a layout proven for your trade is quicker, and so cheaper.

  • Features

Online booking systems, quote calculators, member areas and links to other software each add cost.

  • Online shops

Products, payments, delivery rules and returns pages make e-commerce a bigger project, usually priced well above a brochure site.

  • Moving an old site

Moving content across and redirecting old page addresses takes care, especially if the old site already brings in enquiries.

  • Support after launch

Whether hosting, updates and changes are included, or billed each time you need something.

Why every price is on the page

I put every price on this page because it's what I'd want if I were buying. If a cost isn't written here, it won't turn up on your bill.

What isn't in the price

One standard .co.uk, .uk or .com domain is included, but premium domain names aren't. If you already own a domain, we'll point it at your new website and it stays yours. If you cancel, you keep your domain and its yearly renewal becomes yours.

We don't build online shops, so there's no e-commerce add-on to find at the end. If you need more pages than your plan allows, the simplest route is moving up a plan. Anything bigger, such as a full rebrand, is quoted before any work starts, and you're free to say no.

Prices are the same whatever your trade and wherever you are in the UK. A café in Cornwall and an electrician in Leeds pay the same £49, £79 or £99 a month for the same plan.

Getting a clear price from any designer

Plenty of designers quote case by case, which is fair for complex projects. These steps get you a price you can compare properly, with ours or anyone else's.

  1. Step 1: Send a short brief

List your pages, services, the areas you cover and any features you need. A one-page brief gets far more accurate quotes than a quick phone call.

  2. Step 2: Ask for a fixed price

Rather than an estimate or an hourly rate, so the number can't drift as the work goes on.

  3. Step 3: Ask what isn't included

Hosting, the domain, copywriting, photos and changes after launch are the usual gaps.

  4. Step 4: Ask about year two

Find out what you'll pay once the site is live, every year it stays live. This is where two similar quotes often split apart.

  5. Step 5: Get it in writing

The price, what's included, the timescale and who owns what at the end. A good designer will be happy to put all of it down.

What your money buys: a gardener's website

This is one of our live templates. Your free preview starts here, with your own name on it.

What to notice

  1. Services explained in plain words, so customers know what you do before they call
  2. The areas you cover spelled out, which helps customers and Google alike
  3. A phone number and contact form on every page

Message CharlieI reply within one working dayAsk me a question
How do your prices compare with a freelancer or agency?

For a small business site, a freelancer typically charges £500 to £2,000 up front and an agency £2,000 to £6,000 or more, with hosting and changes usually on top. Ours cost nothing up front: £49 to £99 a month with hosting and changes included, or a one-off build from £549. Over several years a one-off site can work out cheaper, so run the sum.

Are there any hidden costs?

No. The monthly price covers the design, hosting, SSL, security updates and changes. One standard .co.uk, .uk or .com domain is included too, and it's registered in your name so it's always yours.

Why is there no setup fee?

Because the monthly plan pays for the build over time. Your first monthly payment starts the work, and there's no deposit or design fee on top. If you cancel, the plan stops at the end of that month and you keep your domain, text and photos, or you can buy the site outright if you want to keep it.

Can I pay yearly instead of monthly?

Yes. Paying yearly gets you 12 months for the price of 10: £490 for Starter, £790 for Growth and £990 for Pro. You get exactly the same plan, pages and support as paying monthly.

Is there a fee to cancel?

No. There's no contract and no exit fee. Cancel any month and you won't be charged again. Your plan stops at the end of the month you cancel in, and you keep your domain name, your text and your photos.

What do extra pages or changes cost?

Changes are included: 1 a month on Starter and unlimited small edits on Growth and Pro. If you need more pages than your plan allows, moving up a plan is usually the simplest answer. Larger jobs are quoted first, so you always know the price before any work starts.
