The short answer

What is a pay monthly website?

A pay monthly website is a professionally built business website you pay for with a flat monthly fee instead of a big upfront bill. The fee usually covers design, hosting, security and updates. Ours start at £49 a month with no contract and no setup fee, you see a free preview before you pay, and your site goes live within 1 working day of your answers.

How pay monthly websites work

You pay a fixed amount each month. In return, someone builds your site, hosts it, keeps it secure and makes changes when you ask. It's a bit like renting a fitted-out shop rather than buying the building: the upkeep is someone else's job, and you get on with running the business.

With us it goes like this. You build a free preview with your business name, pick a plan, and your first payment starts the build. You answer a few quick questions, then I write the pages, set up the hosting and your domain, and check everything on phones and laptops. It's live within 1 working day of your answers.

After that, the monthly fee keeps it running. There's no contract, so if the website stops earning its keep, you cancel and you aren't charged again.

What the monthly fee pays for

Every plan includes all six. Growth and Pro add more pages, unlimited small edits and more help getting found on Google.

  • Hosting and SSL

Your site is hosted for you, with the certificate that puts the padlock in the address bar. No separate hosting bill to remember.

  • Security updates and backups

Updates are done for you and the site is backed up, so one bad day never means starting again.

  • Built for phones first

Plenty of your customers will find you on a phone, so buttons, text and the contact form are designed for thumbs before laptops.

  • Changes by email

Send new prices, photos or opening hours and they're done for you. Starter includes 1 change a month, Growth and Pro unlimited small edits.

  • Help getting found locally

Every site gets proper page titles and structure. Growth adds Google Business Profile setup and local SEO, and Pro adds a page for each area you cover.

  • A real person to talk to

Freelancer, agency and DIY figures are typical UK ranges for a small site, not quotes. Prices vary with the size of the job.

Paying monthly isn't always cheapest over five years. It's cheapest when you'd rather keep cash in the business and not become your own web developer. If you want to own the site outright, one-off builds start from £549.

What a pay monthly website looks like

This is a live template, not a screenshot. Press “Try this with my details” and it becomes yours in about a minute.

Example template for a salon. Studio Nine Hair is a made-up business: your preview uses your name. See the template for every trade.

What to notice

  1. The phone frame is how most customers will see it, so check that one first
  2. The address bar shows a web address made from the business name, just like yours will
  3. Every template comes in three styles, bold, classic or friendly, and in your own colours

Do you own a pay monthly website?

It's the question to ask any provider before you sign up. With us, your domain is included and registered in your name, and your text and photos are always yours. The design and hosting are part of the plan while you're subscribed.

If you cancel, your plan stops at the end of the month you cancel in and you keep your domain (its renewal becomes yours), your text and your photos. If you'd like to keep the site exactly as it is, you can buy it outright instead. Either way, you're never stuck.

How to get yours live within 1 working day of your answers

  1. Step 1: Build your free preview

Pick your trade and type your business name. It takes about a minute, and there's no card needed.

  2. Step 2: Pick a plan

Starter, Growth or Pro. Your first monthly payment starts the build, with no setup fee on top.

  3. Step 3: Answer a few quick questions

Your services, the areas you cover, your logo and any photos. No photos yet is fine, I'll work around it.

  4. Step 4: I build it

I build and write the pages, and set up your domain and hosting.

  5. Step 5: Go live, then ask for changes

Your site goes live on your own domain, padlock and all, within 1 working day of your answers. Then you look through everything and send changes by email or WhatsApp.

What to check before you sign up with anyone

Cheap pay monthly websites aren't always cheap once you read the small print. Ask every provider, including us, these six things.

  • The minimum term

Some pay monthly providers ask for 12 or 24 months. Ask what happens if you want to leave in month 3.

  • Setup fees

A low monthly price can sit next to a setup fee. Ask for the total you'll pay in the first year.

  • Whose name the domain is in

It should be yours. If it's registered to the provider, moving later gets awkward.

  • What counts as a change

Ask how many changes are included each month and how quickly they get done.

  • What you keep if you leave

At the very least your domain, text and photos. Ask whether you can buy the site if you want to keep it.

  • Who actually builds it

A named person you can email beats a ticket queue. Ask who writes your pages and who handles changes.

Why there's no contract

I don't tie anyone in. If your website stops earning its keep, you should be able to walk away, and I'd rather you stayed because it works.

Questions people ask

Message CharlieI reply within one working day
Do you have to pay monthly for a website?

No. You can pay once for a build and then cover hosting and changes yourself. Paying monthly suits businesses that would rather spread the cost and have someone else look after the site. We do both: monthly plans from £49 a month, or one-off builds from £549.

Is there a contract or minimum term?

No. Plans are month to month. Cancel any time and you won't be charged again. Your plan stops at the end of the month you cancel in, and you keep your domain name, your text and your photos.

Is there a setup fee?

No. Your first monthly payment starts your build and there's nothing else to pay up front. One standard .co.uk, .uk or .com domain is included too, registered in your name.

Can I get an online shop on a pay monthly plan?

The plans are built for service businesses: trades, salons, cafés, clinics and professional firms. Pro includes a quote or booking request form. If you need to sell products online with a basket and checkout, email me first and I'll tell you honestly whether it's a good fit.

Will a pay monthly website get me found on Google?

Every site is fast, works on phones and has proper page titles and structure. Growth and Pro add Google Business Profile setup and local SEO for your area. Nobody can honestly promise you a top ranking, and I won't, but those are the basics that give you a fair chance.

Can you take over my existing website?

Yes. I'll rebuild it properly on one of the plans and move your domain across, so customers still find you at the same address. Any text and photos worth keeping come with you. If you only need someone to look after the site you already have, ask about a care plan.

Can I change plans later?

Yes. Move up or down a plan in any month by sending me an email. Your website stays as it is, and the new price starts from your next payment. Most people start on the plan that fits today and move up when they need more pages.
